#Sponsored Many of you have heard about the water crisis in Cape Town that hit international news in 2018. Living here, I saw firsthand the crisis we were in as we neared “Day Zero” — we cut our water use drastically. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• It's truly amazing when people, communities, and companies come together to support one another in times of crisis. During this time, I learned about @WaterlessHaircare —it was born in Cape Town, during the water crisis, with the idea of providing high-quality hair care products that didn't require a drop of water! They've created my favorite dry shampoo that smells amazing, a dry conditioner that leaves my hair silky-smooth (say what?!), hair mists and styling products —all-around haircare that doesn't require you to use a drop of water. To help reduce my water use, I take short showers and I only wash my hair every 3-4 days (and use dry shampoo in between)! A company that is focusing on conservation like this is a company I can get behind. I want to encourage everyone to reduce their water consumption, no matter where you live and try to spend less time in the shower! Products like these help the environment and actually work (even on my fine, perpetually oily hair). Check out my LINK IN BIO and my Stories to learn more about this company and my fave products that are available in the US. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• #gowaterless

Select Your Niche

Narrow down your interests and keep your page focused on those. Are you interested in fitness, beauty, fashion, travel, food, or photography? You can have a couple of interests, but don’t make your page too complicated. When someone looks at your page, they should automatically know what your niche is.

Use Hashtags & Geotags

By adding hashtags, you’re increasing your visibility on other accounts related to your topic, which means more people will see your page. The same goes for geotags, when someone is searching for specific places, if you geotag your post, they are more likely to stumble upon your page.

Engage With Your Followers

Following, engaging, and tagging photos with other accounts will allow people to find your page. This can help you get featured in accounts or stories and increase your following.

Post Regularly

The more you post, the easier it will be for your audience to connect with you. Try and post at around the same time every day and to reply to the comments people leave on your pictures.

The designer is using his studio and his skills to create PPE (personal protective equipment) for first responders. His studio consists of about 10 seamstresses who are older women. The masks they produce aren’t anything like the ones we’re used to seeing—they feature bright colors, that are sure to boosts anyone’s mood during the difficult time.

In addition to his COVID work, his page is filled with images of elegant ballgowns with tulle ruffles and classy dresses with figure-hugging silhouettes. He’s worked with many brands including Payless, Nordstrom, Starbucks, Disney, Victoria’s Secret, and Lane Bryant. How to Create the Perfect Tie-Dye

Everywhere you turn, it’s hard not to see tie-dye as it’s the official quarantine trend. Now that it’s hot outside and you have tons of free time, it’s time to go old-school and start tie-dying. You can transform plain ordinary clothes and linens into one-of-a-kind pieces. To get the best results, use 100 percent cotton that’s been pre-washed. You’ll also need dye powder, rubber bands, rubber gloves, plastic bags, and a plastic table cover. Here’s your step-by-step guide for all things tie-dye as well as different patterns to try out.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CDOBgN1FJ7R/

How to Tie-Dye:

  1. Place your article of clothing or linens in hot water and wring out the excess water.
  2. On a table covered with plastic wrap, lay your shirt flat.
  3. Tie your shirt with rubber bands tightly in the pattern you choose (see below).
  4. Put your gloves on and start mixing the dye with water.
  5. Apply the dye to your clothing or linens.
  6. When you’re done dying your item, place it in a plastic bag and let it sit for six to eight hours, or overnight.
  7. Remove the rubber bands and rinse your item with cold water until the water runs clear.
  8. Wash your item on its own on a cold setting and let it hang to dry.

Patterns:

Spirals: Pinch the shirt where you want the spiral to be and then twist the rest of the shirt around that point and work outwards. Then add the rubber bands to hold it in place.

Stripes: Bunch your shirt horizontally or vertically and with rubber bands, mark where the stripes will be. To get tighter stripes, use more rubber bands.

Bullseye: Pinch the middle of your shirt and use it as a bullseye center. Then put rubber bands moving outward. For more bullseyes, use more rubber bands.

Laetitia Ky Models Marc Jacobs Bags With Her Hair Sculptures

Laetitia Ky has become famous on social media for her hair, but not for the reasons you may think. Her hair isn’t long and flowy or sporting the latest hairstyles, rather, she uses it to create sculptures. Her hair sculptures have even gotten the attention of designer Marc Jacobs, who used her to promote three of his luxury bags.

Ky posted the photos of the project on her Instagram writing, “Creating those images for @marcjacobs was a pure time of joy. Inspiration will be always at its max when you love the product you promote ! I am in love with all my new bags and #thetotebag is my new favorite ! 😊😊😊”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CC8zUXgBkBr/

In the first photo, the hair artist sculpted her hair into a cute little dog with its head popping out of the pink version of the Marc Jacobs Small Traveler Tote Bag. Ky is also wearing a black A-line tent dress from the brand. She shared the video of her prepping her hair for the final product on her TikTok. She told Allure that this was her favorite look, “I was thinking about what I could put in it if I wanted to do a cute picture,” she says. “I immediately thought about cute animals since that’s universally loved.”

In the second photo, Ky’s hair is holding the second bag, a salmon pink crossbody known as the Quilted Softshot 21. She styled her hair into the shape of an arm that’s growing from the top of her head, which grasps the purse from her thumb and forefinger. She’s also wearing an adorable deep-printed cardigan from Marc Jacobs.

The last photo is a bit less shock worthy as Ky’s wearing the bag normally draped around her shoulder and her hair is crafted into an M and J for the brand’s initials Marc Jacobs. Ky’s wearing the Kat Dress in light gray, which features a Peter Pan collar with a peachy nude Snapshot DTM crossbody.

We look forward to seeing other collaborations that are in store for the hair artist and for more of her Ky’s work, follow her Instagram.

Small Living Space? These Home Decor Items are Multipurpose

If you live in a small apartment, you know just how difficult it is to make the most out of your space. Most of your time is probably spent in your living room and it’s where you work out, work, watch Netflix, and entertain your friends. It also may be where you eat your meals, doubling as a dining room. To make your living room/dining room look cohesive, you need decorating ideas and furniture pieces, and these useful tips will help you own your space.

Take Advantage of Extra Seating

If you have guests over often, it’s important to have enough space for people to sit. Use chairs and tools as accent tables to display books and candles. Benches can be used in the entryway to store your bags and keys.

Create a Makeshift Bar on a Bookcase

You probably don’t have enough room for a bar, but you can display all of your favorite adult beverages on a bookshelf or media unit. Get a decorative tray to display your bottles and accessories.

Extend the Living Room Decor to the Dining Table

Having a dining room table in your living room can look out of place, so to remedy this issue, use your table as an extension of the living room. Decorate your table like you would your living room furniture and display coffee table books, candles, a plant, or a fruit basket.

Use a Sideboard as a Media Console

Instead of a media console, use a sideboard to house your TV. The built-in storage unit is perfect for storing linens, glasses, and dishes.

Italian Designers Create Iconic Handbags From Wrappers

Designers Chiara Rivituso and Matteo Bastiani are engaged to be married and they’ve worked together in fashion design for several years. Their focus has been on bags and accessories and their latest project turns discarded packaging from recognizable brands like Oreo, Heineken, Nike, and Amazon into bags modeled after luxury brands like Prada and Dior.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CAqht1PqdDo/

Their mission is to be more eco-friendly, “[It’s] to communicate our vision of a more sustainable environment,” Rivituso wrote.

The designs really look like the expensive versions of the bags they’re replicating—there’s a Fendi baguette bag made from McDonald’s brown bags that has the fast-food establishments M logo on its buckles and a Dior Saddle bag designed from a Kellog’s Corn Flakes cereal box that Kellog’s brand K replacing the metal D found on Dior bags.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-uCVr3qSGD/

But, it’s not only food packages that the couple uses, they also use packaging from fashion labels. Their Jacquemus’s Le Chiquito teeny-tiny bag uses paper from a Chanel beauty bag.

So, how did they come up with the idea? It all began when they wanted to challenge themselves creatively and they created their first bag, the Balenciaga Bazaar made from Tesco shopping bags. They were inspired to focus on reusing and, “the challenge was mixing and matching something from everyday life and iconic fashion world and to explore the possibility to switch.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/B_Al6ZuqidN/

During COVID, Rivituso and Bastiani were inspired to make use of what they had lying around their house and to be more sustainable. They hope to inspire people to create instead of wasting what they have instead of buying new.

Unfortunately, the bags aren’t available for sale yet, but they hope to launch an exhibition for the bags and they’re not opposed to selling them. Currently, they’re creating behind-the-scenes how-to tutorials to show people how to create their own DIY bags.
