The best way to stay up to date on the latest trends is to follow the top fashion designer’s personal Instagram accounts. They’re a more toned-down version, compared to the brands that they work for and you’ll even get a taste of their personal, private lives on their pages. A designer that you’ll want to follow and we’re sure you’ve heard a lot about, especially if you’re a fan of Project Runway, is Christian Siriano.

Siriano was the youngest designer to compete on the reality series and at just 21-year-old, he won Season 4 of the competition. After winning Project Runway, he started his namesake brand and went on to dress Michelle Obama, Billy Porter, Lady Gaga, Priyanka Chopra, Danielle Brooks, Taylor Swift, and many other big-name Hollywood stars. In 2018, 10 years after his win, he took over for Tim Gunn as the mentor of Project Runway.

So what’s he up to now?

Siriano has amassed over 1.5 million followers on his Instagram page and he uses the platform to document his work relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. The designer is using his studio and his skills to create PPE (personal protective equipment) for first responders. His studio consists of about 10 seamstresses who are older women. The masks they produce aren’t anything like the ones we’re used to seeing—they feature bright colors, that are sure to boosts anyone’s mood during the difficult time.

In addition to his COVID work, his page is filled with images of elegant ballgowns with tulle ruffles and classy dresses with figure-hugging silhouettes. He’s worked with many brands including Payless, Nordstrom, Starbucks, Disney, Victoria’s Secret, and Lane Bryant. He also uses plus-sized women in his runway shows and dresses actors who aren’t the typical runway “sample size” for the red carpet.

For a designer who’s a breath of fresh air in the industry and making a huge impact on the world, you have to start following Christian Siriano.
