It’s Time to Incorporate Buffalo Check Plaid Into Your Home Decor

Buffalo check plaid once was associated with rustic country homes, but recently it’s become super contemporary, especially now that the cottagecore trend has taken off. Buffalo check is more simplistic than other types of plaids which makes it super versatile. It also happens to be great for fall and here are some ways to incorporate the pattern into your home.

Buffalo Check Upholstered Furniture

Buffalo check chairs and couches are pretty much a neutral, especially when they come in black, navy, or tan.

Buffalo Check Curtains

For curtains, choose buffalo checks in neutral colors that will go with the rest of your home decor. You can even match the curtains to other home decor pieces like chairs, table runners, or napkins.

Chotronette was founded by the Romanian duo Silvia Chiteala and Laura Cazacu, who share a passion for Frida Kahlo, retro-punk music, Art Nouveau architecture, Wes Anderson’s movies, and Victorian glasshouses.

3 Creative Ideas for Taking Great Photos of Raindrops

Taking great photos on a rainy day is pretty difficult, but amazing things can happen if you decide to focus on the raindrops. If you still haven’t discovered the subtle art of raindrop photography, start your creative journey with these three ideas.

Rainy Windows

You don’t have to open up your window on a rainy day to get some epic snaps. Capturing a subject through a rainy window can lead to great things. When it comes to portraits, you can take them from the comfort of your own home, or visit some spots with great views if you’re into travel photography.

Positioning Your Subjects

Capturing your subject through the window isn’t the only way you can utilize this technique. You can also position your subject next to a rainy window, and capture a cozy and atmospheric shot that will challenge your creativity.

Nature Photography

You can also step outside on a rainy day and capture some amazing nature photographs. Taking close-ups of plants and flowers with tiny raindrops all over them will lead to some great results. Keep in mind you don’t have to go out while it’s raining outside—the raindrops will still be there once the weather calms down.

Dauphinette is Utilizing Pressed Flowers in Their Whimsical Fashion Designs

Many fashion brands are trying to embrace sustainability these days, but no one is doing it better than Dauphinette. This brand is known for using nontraditional recycled fabrics and materials in their designs—including pressed flowers.

This New York-based brand was started by Olivia Cheng in 2018, and it first caught the eye of the fashion experts because many pieces included vintage and antique components. She took thrift shopping to a whole new level by creating one-of-a-kind pieces made from modified vintage items or from entirely repurposed materials.

Cheng’s business model is truly unique and she has all sorts of different ways of repurposing vintage items, but her pressed flower creations are our favorite. Her Instagram page is filled with all sorts of different pieces, mostly bags, jewelry, organza dresses, and tops decorated with flowers.

Real flowers are utilized in the creations of these items, but the product descriptions on Dauphinette’s official website warn there are variations in the type and color of flowers. It’s also possible they’ll change in color as time goes by, but they describe this transformation as “nature’s way of showing you love.”
