Christmas is just weeks away and it’s time to make an ugly Christmas sweater. While you can find a fair share of ugly holiday sweaters at thrift stores, it’s always more fun to create your own. By making your own, you can ensure that yours is totally unique and no one else will have it. Here’s how to make your very own ugly Christmas sweater.

Gather Materials

Your Christmas decorations bins are the perfect place to get started. Look for old ornaments, gift wrap, bows, stale candy canes, lights, bows, and garland. You’ll also need a plain sweater, glitter, fabric paint, a hot glue gun, paintbrush, and scissors to make your very own ugly Christmas sweater. Stick with a theme of red, green, and gold to keep the Christmas vibe.

Attach Decorations

Trim the garland for the collar, cuffs, and hem of the sweater and then attach it with a hot glue gun. Then glue the bows, gift wrap, ornaments, and unwrapped candy canes on the sweater.

Paint Snowflakes

With a paintbrush and fabric paint, create some snowflakes and then sprinkle glitter on top so they sparkle. Alternatively, you can use a stencil or snowflake rubber stamp.
