Tilse is a self-thought artist from Sidney who embarked on a journey of a lifetime after leaving university and setting off backpacking around Europe. Travel, art, and architecture are some of his biggest passions, and his sketches are informed by his love for all three.

Tilse told Outlook Traveler that he realized that drawing is a great companion during his travels because it allowed him to put down memories on paper. He enjoys drawing on location because he feels immediately inspired this way since each building comes with its rich history.

One of the main characteristics of Tilse’s illustrations is his attention to detail, and it can take him up to 50 hours to finish a single work of art. He often shares cutout replicas of famous buildings next to their real-life contra parts, and prints of his best works can be found at Maxwell Illustration Etsy store.
