If you’ve recently renovated your home, chances are you have some leftover sample paint pots that you used to test out colors before committing to painting an entire wall or item of furniture with them. But once you’ve picked your color, don’t throw away those paint pots as there are tons of quick furniture updates and DIY projects that you can use them for. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Paint Geometric Artwork

Create modern work of art with some painters tape, a plain canvas, and sample paint pots. Start by applying lines of tape at various angles on the canvas to make geometric shapes. Fill in the shapes with colors of paint, working one section at a time.

Highlight a Section Wall

While sample paint pots won’t cover an entire wall, you can use them to highlight areas of a room with a two-toned look. This idea works well for empty corners or above a piece of furniture.

Decorate Plant Pots

Give your plant pots a fresh look by painting over them in a solid color or creating fun patterns like stripes, dots, and swirls.

Update a Bookshelf

Give a plain white bookshelf a makeover by priming the face frame of the bookcase and front edge of the shelves and then applying two coats of sample paint. When you’re done top with a coat of clear wax or matte varnish.

Embellish Glass Vases

Give your plain glassware some flair by using an eraser on a pencil, stamp polka-dots starting from the bottom and going up the sides of the vase.
