Hogwarts may not be a real place, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to find beautifully designed buildings that look just as magical as this fictional school. Castles reminiscent of Harry Potter’s alma matter are scattered around the world, and these five will blow you away with their architectural beauty.

Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany

Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most recognizable castles in Germany, and it’s truly as magical as it gets. It was built in the Romanesque Revival style during the 19th century, and stage designer Christian Jank and architect Eduard Riedel deserve the credit for bringing it to life.

Hebei Academy of Fine Arts, China

One of the rare buildings reminiscent of Hogwarts located outside of Europe, the Hebei Academy of Fine Arts draws inspiration from European architectural style and it’s an homage to Gothic magic castles.

Hohenzollern Castle, Germany

Another German castle that bears a striking resemblance to Hogwarts, this dreamy building is located atop Mount Hohenzollern. Built in the Gothic Revival style by Friedrich August Stüler, Hohenzollern seamlessly blends the elements of medieval architecture with German Romanticism.

Alnwick Castle, The United Kingdom

Alnwick Castle in the English county of Northumberland looks straight out of Harry Potter because it actually appeared in the movies. It was built in the Gothic style, during the late 10th century and it has gone through many changes since.
