Although Colin LoCascio isn’t yet a household name, you’ve probably already seen some of his designs. The 26-year-old designer has dressed some of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities including Bella Hadid, Lil Yachty, Rita Ora, and Cardi B in his statement-making outerwear pieces. For the past two years, LoCascio has been the director of Kendall + Kylie and he’s just now releasing his first official collection for Fall 2020 that’s filled with colorful coats, nubby knitwear, and metallic pants.
A native of Queens, the designer attended the Rhode Island School of Design before working for Marc Jacobs doing embroidery layers and laser-cut leathers. His current collection melds his background and experience with celebrities. You’ll still see an ode to his love for outerwear, like a textured cream coat with flames, as well as fun pieces like a turtleneck with faces of dinosaurs and fur bucket hats.
His collection is influenced by his love for the ’90s and ’00s as well as shows like Lizzie McGuire, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and Moesha. “I was seeing how pop culture has manifested into my aesthetic. It was a very special moment for me and a self-love thing,” the designer told Vogue.
He also accounted for the people he dresses, “There are little moments of Cardi B and Bella Hadid,” he says. “The people that I have worked with have trickled into the vernacular of how I am designing,” LoCascio continued.
We expect more celebrities to wear Colin LoCascio’s designs at future red carpet events.
